This multifaceted job is perfect for a person who loves working with children, has experience with communications, financials, administration, management, and community driven work. An ideal candidate would be someone who can see the big picture and the tiny details. They would need to be able to listen and be a people person while remaining task oriented. Job will include ample training. Position is for full-time summer to start with option for full year contract for the right person.

Position can begin as soon as May 1st.

Duties

Specifically, responsibilities would include:
  • Support the director to meet and document our NC Licensure Compliance, Tuition Subsidy, Food Program agreements each month. Keep and report the data with support from staff.

  • Develop, Nurture Celebrate relationships with prospective parents, teachers, volunteers, donors, and Community Members, and students.
  • Manage and operate Brightwheel- messaging/attendance

  • Support the Director with office, human resources, and business management tasks such as preparing for events, marketing, creation of newsletters or other documents, etc.
  • Work with staff to support their daily flow and the school as a whole, examples- managing lost and founds, doing dishes some days, cleaning up after snacks at times, supporting a child in the bathroom, giving a break, standing in when staff are out
  • Overall Preschool Logistical and Administrative Duties including Secretarial, Reporting, Shopping, Food Organizing
  • Communication and Answering Phones and Emails
  • Keeping up with Birthdays and special events
  • Weekly/Monthly/Yearly Calendar and tasks
  • Organize encourage strong communication collaboration with staff, board, parents, community, and students biweekly through regularly scheduled feedback opportunities like Free Coffee Fridays, Sweet Moments- Chocolate fueled- standing check-ins, Mindful Minutes, and Lunch with Leadership.
  • Co-create a positive work environment by ensuring all voices are heard. Connecting with the community, volunteers, parents, and our staff each week to harvest ideas and needs.
  • Work where it is needed. Sub in the classroom, do dishes, fix something, clean a toilet, wait with a sick kid, listen to an upset coworker, hold space for an angry parent, try something new. These are all parts of the job that sound difficult but they are what build trust and partnership with staff and families.


Requirements

Applicable Experience:
  • Working multiple years in a preschool environment
  • Board or Advisor, Administrative, Classroom, or parent experience
  • Supervising and caring for multiple children at the same time.
  • Leadership and/or management of logistics, finances, and compliance in education or another field. All business experience considered.
  • Working with children, parents, or other groups as a leader in service and advocating for their best interest.
  • Co-creating in ethical, respectful, compassionate and without judgment while working with people from all backgrounds and cultures.
  • Experience working with multi-racial or marginalized groups to ensure justice, peace, and compassion and collaboration.
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment, experiences, and relationships.

Skills:
  • Ability to create systems that increase productivity and decrease paperwork.
  • Comfortable with technology, Google Drive, Calendars, Social Media, Excel, data entry, basic word processing, and content creation ideal.
  • Flexibility in the work environment and daily routine.
  • Self-starter who sees solutions and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Be a motivator, mentor, and an active member of our community.

Education: Although a bachelor's degree in a related field is ideal we will consider individuals with experience in the place of education.

Has or willing to work towards onsite Child Care Administrator credentials:
(1) shall have a Level II NCECAC9 or its equivalent; AND
(2) completed 18 semester hours in ECE/CD1 (not including NCECAC9 coursework or hours earned in the A.A.S. degree); AND EITHER (A) 3 years of full-time verifiable work experience in an early childhood center teaching young children; OR (B) 3 years of administrative experience; OR (C) 3 years of a combination of both

This job is best if you to live within 20 minutes of the school in West Asheville, NC. This is due to inclement weather days needing to be able to get to school. We do not provide any moving stipend. Asheville has an affordable housing problem so hoping to find someone who already lives in town but we might be open to savvy transplants.

Benefits

Pay Scale: $15-18/hr- Hourly, training starts at $15/16

Terms: 35-40 hrs/wk, 90-day trial, year-round - 12-month contract
