Position Overview

The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) plays an important role in supporting the delivery of high-quality rehabilitation services. Working under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist, the PTA helps carry out treatment plans, monitors patient progress, and contributes to a safe, effective, and patient-centered care experience. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with patients and being part of a collaborative clinical team.

Requirements

  • Current Physical Therapy Assistant license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
  • Associate degree from an accredited PTA program
  • Current CPR certification

Core Responsibilities

Patient Care & Treatment

  • Deliver therapy interventions based on individualized care plans established by the Physical Therapist
  • Guide patients through therapeutic activities focused on mobility, strength, balance, coordination, and functional independence
  • Assist with exercises including conditioning, flexibility, posture, and gait training
  • Support patients with functional tasks and mobility training using assistive devices such as walkers, crutches, or prosthetics
  • Apply appropriate modalities and manual techniques as directed
  • Monitor patient response to treatment and report progress or concerns to the supervising therapist

Clinical Support

  • Assist the Physical Therapist during evaluations, re-assessments, and complex procedures as needed
  • Gather and document objective data related to patient performance and outcomes
  • Participate in care planning by providing input on patient progress and functional goals
  • Help facilitate group therapy sessions when appropriate

Patient Education & Safety

  • Educate patients and caregivers on exercises, home programs, and safe mobility techniques
  • Reinforce proper body mechanics and injury prevention strategies
  • Maintain a strong focus on patient safety, comfort, and overall well-being

Team Collaboration & Operations

  • Work closely with therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in accordance with regulatory and professional standards
  • Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment
  • Support clinic operations, including equipment care and general workflow needs
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development
