Job Summary: The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the frontline face of the diagnostic services team, responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens from patients and preparing them for lab testing. This role is essential to ensuring accurate results for life-impacting healthcare decisions. PSRs are key in creating a welcoming and professional experience for patients across various settings, including doctors' offices and service centers.
Key Responsibilities: Collect quality blood specimens from patients using approved procedures. Prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Verify and label specimens with accuracy and ensure they are collected in the patient's presence. Maintain accurate documentation and uphold all patient confidentiality standards. Ensure professional and safe phlebotomy environment across different collection sites. Travel as needed to cover multiple locations on short notice. Support both forensic and clinical specimen collection needs. Uphold company policies and dress code while promoting a positive image. Communicate effectively with patients, peers, and supervisors. Exhibit flexibility including weekend, holiday, and on-call availability. Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years' phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections. High school diploma or equivalent required. Strong phlebotomy skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation if applicable. Nice-to-Have Experience: 2+ years' experience in a Patient Service Center. Customer service background in retail or service environments. Medical assistant or paramedic training. Keyboard/data entry skills. Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA; preferred elsewhere). Required Skills: Phlebotomy (pediatric and geriatric) Patient data verification & labeling accuracy Independent task management Preferred Skills: Customer service in medical or retail settings Specimen processing and documentation Travel and multi-location adaptability Organizational commitment and professionalism Knowledge of patient confidentiality and HIPAA Additional Skills : Process excellence and confidentiality sensitivity Bilingual communication (if applicable) Adherence to health & safety standards
