Pharmacy Technician The mission of The University of Texas M. D. Job Competencies: Medication Preparation and Distribution Accurately and efficiently fill unit dose carts and first doses Accurately and efficiently pull drugs to refill controlled access cabinets Accurately and efficiently deliver medications/supplies to designated areas Sterile Compounding/Preparation Accurately and efficiently prepare small and large volume parenteral sterile products (non-hazardous and non-investigational) Inventory Management Restocking medications/supplies Complete cycle counts in carousel Ensure medication security and accountability Monitors area inventory and supplies, notifies appropriate personnel when shortages and/or outages noted Other duties as assigned Core Competencies: IC Technical/Functional Expertise: Demonstrate technical proficiency required to do the job Possesses up-to-date knowledge in the profession Provide technical expertise to others IC Team with Others: Encourage collaboration and input from all team members Value the contributions of all team members Balance individual and team goals IC Analytical Thinking: Gather relevant information systematically Break down problems into simple components Make sound decisions TC Practice-Based Learning & Improvement: Employee participates in on-going learning and demonstrates application of it in his/her role TC Equipment Usage & Safety: Employee maintains expectations for safety preparedness, including but not limited to: Orientation to new equipment, Employee Education Events and Fire drills. Education: Required: High school diploma or equivalent Preferred: Two years of college supplemented by courses in pharmacy, laboratory technique or basic science. License/Certification: Required: Current Pharmacy Technician Registration with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP). Preferred: Current Certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). Experience: Required: None Preferred: Two years of college supplemented by courses in pharmacy, laboratory technique or basic science.
