Job Summary
The Payroll Administrator processes bi-weekly payroll and ensures payroll processes are consistently followed, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Key Responsibilities Accurately performs employee payroll processing duties, coordinating with ADP partners and providing required documents. Reviews new hire, job change, pay change and termination reports to ensure pay accuracy. Manually calculates PTO payout and adds to final paycheck for termed employees. Performs necessary follow-up to ensure payroll deadlines are met. Tracks inconsistencies with timecard approval, payroll exceptions and errors. Collects and analyzes payroll data using standard and/or custom reports as needed. Troubleshoots and/or handles payroll inquiries/tickets to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution and response to employees. Coordinates with ADP to resolve any pay discrepancies. Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks, pre-paid cards or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.Provides biweekly payroll reports to finance and campus leadership as required. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices. Provides excellent customer service. Ensures payroll, benefit, garnishment and tax deductions are set up timely and accurately for employees and processed accordingly. Assists with verification of employment needs and processes as they pertain to pay. Completes Department of Labor (DOL) reports pertaining to payroll. Identifies areas for improvement in the payroll process. Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills General understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial requirements governing functional payroll deductions. Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and customer service Proficient with Google Suites, and some Microsoft Office (Excel) Highest levels of integrity and professionalism, with the ability and willingness to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation Minimum of 4 years in payroll processing Experience with multistate payroll process and rules Proficient with payroll software.
Preferred Experience Payroll experience in ADP WorkforceNow payroll systems preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources
