Location: Dent Tower, Amherst Location
Working Hours: Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week. Between 8:00am-5:00pm
Position Summary: Responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for over 500 employees. Assists with coordination of efforts between payroll team, human resources team, and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data in various systems. Works collaboratively with the accounting team and performs other duties, such as employee benefit account reconciliation and assisting with preparation for annual external audits; including but not limited to financial, 401(k) benefit plan, and workers compensation audits.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for over 500 employees; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; track and deduct all garnishments and other special deductions
* Coordinates work with the Payroll Accountant
* Responsible for assisting with the coordination of efforts between payroll, human resources and other departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data in various systems (ie; payroll, 401(k) platform, etc)
* Handles the administration of the electronic timekeeping system. Setup each employee; monitor PTO policies and ensure data transfers properly to the payroll system
* Handle employee correspondence via phone, email, and fax
* Maintain payroll files and documentation
* Fund 401(k) benefit monthly, prepare data for non-discrimination testing, 5500 and profit share calculations annually
* Work with HR and Accounting team to reconcile balance sheet accounts related to benefits; prepare payroll related journal entries and reconcile bank accounts
* Assist with annual external audit needs
* Prepare and update written policies and procedures related to scope of work
* Communicate effectively with management team and employees with a customer service focus
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree with 1 year payroll experience or minimum 3 years payroll experience preferred
* ADP Workforce Now experience desired
* Proficient in Microsoft Office skills (Excel in particular)
* Knowledge of general ledger systems/journal entries
* Strong problem solving skills
* Experience in healthcare preferred, but not required
* Accuracy and detail orientation is a must
* Ability to work independently to meet communicated schedules and deadlines; multi-task
* Ability to function as a team player
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Working Conditions:
* Normal working environment, typical of most office settings
* Minimal physical effort, requires some lifting of files, usually not in excess of 15 pounds.

Compensation:
* Most candidates will start within the first quartile of the pay range
* Rates are commensurate with experience
