In addition, the University Police Department serves as the fire and public safety office for the university.u2022Patrol Officers serve as members of the departmentsu2019 patrol operations team. Patrol Officers shall follow directives put forth by department leadership and university management, taking personal ownership for the success of the department and university.u2022Patrol Officers ensure the goals of the department are achieved. This is accomplished through performing a broad range of law enforcement, security, and safety duties and assignments on university property and the surrounding areas.u2022Patrol Officers are responsible for maintaining public order and protecting lives and property.u2022Patrol Officers perform building safety and security, fire code inspections, fire extinguishers and AED inspections, and enforce all Montana state and local criminal/traffic laws. Patrol Officers are responsible for enforcing parking rules and regulations, issuing citations to violators.u2022Patrol Officers are required to work 24 hours/7 days per week. Patrol Officers work a variety of shifts, to include days, afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays with regularity. Patrol Officers are required to work overtime.u2022Patrol Officers are required to perform all duties and responsibilities in a professional and service-oriented manner.u2022Patrol Officers will be required to perform all duties, as outlined in the officer job description.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:University Law Enforcementu2022Conduct criminal and non-criminal investigations.u2022Conduct traffic accident investigations.u2022Conduct traffic enforcement.u2022Conduct DUI detection and enforcement. (investigations)u2022Interview victims, suspects, and witnesses.u2022Apprehend suspects, offenders, and individuals with warrants.u2022Issue citations, Notice to Appears, and No Trespass Notices to suspects and violators.u2022Preserve crime scenes, photographic documentation, collection, and preservation of evidence. u2022 Enforce University policies and procedures.u2022Deliver crime prevention and personal safety education presentations.u2022Mediate disputes.u2022Maintain public order, protect lives and property.u2022Respond to criminal behavior and calls in a timely, efficient, and professional manner.u2022Enforcement of Federal, State and Local laws along with university policies.u2022Provide for the safe and convenient flow of pedestrians and motor vehicle traffic in and around our university community.u2022Prepare written reports and other documentation as required.u2022Present evidence and provide oral testimony in legal proceedings.u2022Enforce university parking rules/regulations.
