Gritman Medical Center is seeking a Patient Services Representative (PSR) to provide essential administrative and clerical support in a fast-paced healthcare setting. This role ensures smooth patient registration, appointment scheduling, and effective communication between healthcare providers, patients, pharmacies, and other medical offices. The PSR I is expected to maintain strict confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations while delivering excellent customer service and professionalism in every interaction.
*We are looking for someone to cover a Monday - Wednesday nighttime shift*
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist patients and visitors in person and over the phone with professionalism and a positive attitude.
- Monitor call queues and patient wait times, ensuring efficient service.
- Maintain accurate patient accounts, process payments, and balance cash drawers.
- Enter and verify insurance and patient information with a high level of accuracy.
- Schedule patient appointments appropriately based on clinic protocols.
- Assist with medical record requests and chart preparation.
- Ensure the reception area remains clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Uphold patient privacy and rights by maintaining strict confidentiality.
- Respond to patient concerns or complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Education: No specific education required.
- Experience:
- Must have experience working with computers.
- Knowledge of basic office functions, including message-taking, data entry, and cash handling.
- Previous experience in a medical office is preferred.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong customer service, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in computer programs and multi-line phone systems.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to adapt to changing workflows.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, and kneel throughout the day.
- Requires occasional lifting (up to 35 lbs.), reaching, and pushing/pulling.
- Frequent interaction with patients, staff, and visitors in a busy office environment.
- Potential exposure to seasonal outdoor conditions and public health risks.
