Our team of 26 Orthopaedic Doctors/Physician Assistants offers appointments for the whole family, from pediatric to adult patients. As a Front Desk team member, you are the face of our Orthopaedic practice. You are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting visitors and patients in a timely, friendly manner, preparing patients for their visit, and ensuring that all information necessary for the visit and billing process is complete and accurate. We entrust our patients into your hands!
Medical Office Receptionist Job Responsibilities and Duties include:
- Checks in and checks out patients in a timely, friendly manner
- Comforts patients by answering any questions they may have
- Discusses patient balances and collects Copayment/Balances
- Maintains patient accounts by verifying insurance information and coordinating with relevant staff members for payment and referral requirements
- Keeps doctors, physician assistants, medical assistants, and any other related staff abreast of scheduling, patient details, and potential service delays
- Protects patients' right to confidentiality; mandatory familiarity with HIPAA
- Exhibit strong customer service skills in daily interaction with the public, staff, and physicians in the performance of job duties
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times, keeping the company's Core Values and Shared Purpose at the forefront of your actions
- Collaborating in the process to protect Patient Health Information
- Processing the collection of Copayments/Balances
- Scheduling with both the patient and provider schedules in mind
- Understanding and verifying insurance eligibility and the requirements of those plans
- Responsibility for daily collection reconciliation
- Performs all other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred
- At least 3 years of direct experience as a medical office receptionist in a fast-paced clinic, hospital, or similar healthcare setting.
- Must be able to multitask effectively; critical time management skills necessary
- Understanding of basic healthcare terminology
- Demonstrated ability to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and insurance companies alike
- Excellent customer service skills
Salary:
Hourly rate range is $18.00 - $22.00. The final offer will depend on the candidate's experience.
