POSITION OVERVIEW:

Join our dynamic team as a Part-Time Freight Handler! You will play a crucial role in transporting freight across the dock area and ensuring efficient loading into trailers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: In this position, you will:

Utilize motorized and manual equipment effectively, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Verify that documentation accurately matches freight descriptions, checking for type, weight, and hazardous materials. Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools such as pallets and straps. Recoup or repair damaged freight when necessary. Complete required documentation and reports accurately. Assist customers with freight and documentation as needed. Perform hostling duties if required. Adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Take on additional tasks as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for candidates who:

Have a high school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Are at least 18 years of age. Bring prior experience in warehousing, freight handling, or forklift operations (preferred). Exhibit ability to count and perform basic math, with or without a calculator. Possess basic written and verbal communication skills. Can lift and carry freight of varying weights multiple times a week, lift dock plates weighing around 100 pounds, and open trailer doors requiring about 75 pounds of lift force several times per day. Are capable of bending, twisting, and squatting while pushing/pulling freight throughout the shift. Can work both independently and as part of a team. Have previous dock or warehouse experience (preferred). WORKING CONDITIONS: This role involves working in a dock environment with exposure to various weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, and noise. Hours may vary based on operational needs, and you will frequently interact with service center personnel in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented setting.
