We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Title Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in Baton Rouge.
This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about the oil and gas industry and has a keen interest in the legal aspects related to it.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal support in the areas of oil and gas title examination, due diligence, and other related matters.
Responsibilities: Conduct and oversee comprehensive title examinations, including analysis of surface and mineral ownership. Prepare and review title opinions, curative documents, and other legal instruments related to oil and gas operations. Conduct due diligence reviews in connection with oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures. Provide legal advice and support to business units on a wide range of oil and gas matters, including leasing, drilling, and production operations. Negotiate, draft, and review oil and gas leases, contracts, and agreements. Collaborate with other attorneys, landmen, and business units to resolve title defects and other issues. Stay current on legal developments in the oil and gas industry and provide training and guidance to business units as needed. Represent the company in legal proceedings related to oil and gas matters, if necessary. Qualifications: Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school. A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Oil & Gas Title Attorney. Licensed to practice law in the state of Louisiana. Extensive experience in conducting title examinations and preparing title opinions. Strong knowledge of oil and gas law, including leasing, drilling, and production operations. Proven experience in conducting due diligence reviews in connection with oil and gas acquisitions and divestitures. Excellent negotiation, drafting, and contract review skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. Proficient in the use of legal research tools and other relevant software applications.
