Position Summary

Inpatient coverage of triage, LDRP, and GYN patients (ED and inpatient)

Full assumption of care for private practice patients

No midwives on staff currently

NNPs available 24/7 for newborns

Availability Requirements

Shifts per month: 10-12

Shift type: 24- or 48-hour in-house shifts

Weekend coverage: 4 shifts/month preferred

Call: In-house only (no outside call)

Licensure & Certification Requirements

State License - AZ license or active IMLC required

Board Certified or Board Eligible

Residency - OB/GYN residency required

DEA - Required

Certifications - BLS, ACLS, PALS (NRP or NALS acceptable)

Newborn Responsibility - No (NNPs on-site 24/7)

Facility & Support

Setting: Family Birthing Center

EMR: Cerner

Support: L&D RNs, anesthesia, OR staff, NNPs

C-section Assist: First assist typically available unless emergent

Surgical Backup: General surgery available

MFM Consults: Available by phone

NICU Level: CCN (32+ weeks); high-risk deliveries transferred as appropriate

Volume & Caseload

Deliveries/day: 2.6

Triage volume/day: 6 patients (4 discharged, 2 admitted)

GYN/OR volume: Typically ?1 case per 24 hours

Antepartum admissions (2024): 63 patients (121 patient days)

Patient mix:

Local private practice

20/year with no prenatal care

44/year referred by community lay midwives

Other Notes

No scheduled backup from private OBs (CMO can contact them if needed)

Candidates must be comfortable with independent practice in a hospital setting
