About the Professional Licensing Agency:
The Indiana Professional Licensing Agency is seeking an individual to help protect the health and safety of the citizens of Indiana by providing quality, efficient service to all professional licensees, applicants, and the public. The fundamental purpose of this position is to provide administrative support to the board director, the licensing board/commissions, and to directly supervise the customer service representatives' projects across a broad scope of career opportunities. Role Overview:
The purpose of the position is to serve as the liaison for all pre-licensure schools of nursing in the State of Indiana. The incumbent will conduct all site visits, serve as the education contact for the National Council of State Boards of Nursing ("NCSBN"), and will review all annual reports from pre-licensure schools of nursing. This position is based in Indianapolis. This position also involves travel to nursing educational programs throughout the state.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
- Serve as the subject matter expert to agency leadership by providing comprehensive strategies to plan, organize, develop, and administer. strategies to ensure compliance with state statutes and rules regarding nursing education.
- Assist agency/Board leadership in strategic plan development, to guide compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with agency leadership, community partners, nursing education programs, professional organizations and national accreditors.
- Work in collaboration with other education and health providers to facilitate the delivery of information regarding regulatory changes.
- Follow up on programs to ensure recommendations are followed.
- Act as a liaison between state agencies, national accreditors, professional organizations, nursing education programs and community clinical partners to facilitate communication and collaboration. May require out of state travel for a period of days.
- Develop, arrange, and conduct in-service and/or continuing education programs for communities of interest.
- Conduct site visits to nursing education programs located around the state on behalf of the Indiana State Board of Nursing (ISBN) to assess for compliance with regulations regarding nursing education programs. May require overnight travel within the state.
- Gather, collate and report data to ISBN regarding state licensure exams (NCLEX).
- Serve as suject matter expert for review of continuing education submissions completed as part of licensure discipline or the biannual Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) mandatory audit.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively with licensing analysts regarding their nursing or education related questions.
What You'll Need for Success:
The ideal candidate in this role should minimally have either
- a Master's Degree with a Registered Nurse (RN) license, or
- a Bachelor's Degree with a Registered Nurse (RN) license plus 2+ years of experience, or
- an Associate's Degree with a Registered Nurse (RN) license plus 3+ years of experience applying the below, outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role.
Related certifications and coursework may be considered for education or experience.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing practices and consultant role in a specialized program area.
- Extensive knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations related to specialized program areas.
- Considerable knowledge of the operation of the different agencies receiving regulations and consultation such as schools, community and governmental organizations and a variety of health agencies.
- Working knowledge of state and federal departments and agencies which have programs or services affecting Nursing education.
- regulations and standards to various community agencies.
- Ability to prepare accurate, detailed reports, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships with agency staff, the medical community, various governmental agencies, other stakeholders.
Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
