Applied Materials Inc. is seeking a Mechanical Engineer [Req #T8988] in Santa Clara, CA to identify and troubleshoot mechanical engineering problems. Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering test reports. Develop, design, or modify complex mechanical engineering layouts/schematics and/or detailed drawings/specifications. Create 3D mechanical model concepts and designs related to gas and liquid-vapor delivery systems. Create mechanical engineering layouts/schematics related to gas and liquid-vapor delivery systems Perform engineering analysis including structural, thermal and flow analysis of difficult scope. Identify problems and troubleshoot a variety of difficult mechanical problems related to liquid delivery and particle defects. Define, coordinate, perform, and document engineering test reports. Technically lead and execute engineering projects, including engaging with suppliers to provide mechanical product specifications and developing/testing products. Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing, and associating processes to enable the handling, assembly and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. Specify and review engineering documentation. Implement concepts for variety of complex product issues and mechanical solutions. Identify and document best known methods related to operation of mechanical systems.

Requirements: Masters degree or foreign equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of industry experience in the position offered or related capacity(ies). Demonstrate knowledge and/or experience in each of the following: 1. Mechanical 3D modeling, including CAD; 2. Mechanical layout/schematic creation; 3. MATLAB; 4. Thermodynamics, thermal/heat transfer simulation/analysis; 5. Fluid flow simulation/analysis; and 6. Material Selection.

Salary range: $155,043 to $186,051 per year
