0.8 FTE - Part-time position Ideal candidate will be certified in both Mathematics and Special Education. This is a Monday - Thursday position. No Fridays because it is an 80% position. REPORTS TO:Principal / Department Chair JOB MISSION: This position is focused on providing increased MTSS Tier II and Tier III supports for students. This Unit A position requires a MA License/certification in Math. The teacher will provide direct support to students in Math, as well as, organizational skills. Additionally, the teacher will be expected to communicate with classroom teachers, school counselors, administrators, and families regarding progress and areas of needed growth. This teacher will be part of the Math Department. There will also be an aspect of this position that will be responsible to facilitate/supervise independent online credit recovery opportunities for students. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned. 1.PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE 1.1Continuously improve professional knowledge and practice through appropriate professional development activities; share information and knowledge with other teachers; apply the best research in the design and development of school curriculum. 1.2Maintain and incorporate the best research in instructional materials and techniques. 2.PLANNING FOR INSTRUCTION 2.1Set short-term and year-long goals for curricular units based on sound principles and practices of learning. 2.2Develop and maintain lesson plans based on short-term and year-long goals and share when appropriate. 3.USE OF MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT 3.1Integrate current technologies as tools to enhance instructional strategies and increase student learning. 4.EFFECTIVENESS OF INSTRUCTION 4.1Promote a high level of active learning through setting high standards and clear goals and modifying instruction to help all students achieve those standards. 4.2Maintain systems of assessment and measurements which reflect progress in achieving instructional objectives. 5.LEARNING ENVIRONMENT 5.1Establish an atmosphere that encourages sensitivity and respect among students and with the teacher, and practices and routines which create an appropriate learning environment. 5.2Design instructional experiences in which students achieve high standards and optimize their performance by taking responsibility for their own learning. 6.EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS 6.1Maintain open and effective communication with students, parents, staff and administration using expected professional standards. 6.2Participate actively in team/department/staff meetings. 7.CONTRIBUTIONS TO STUDENTS BEYOND THE CLASSROOM 7.1Be available for student and/or parent conferences. 8.CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE SCHOOL AND/OR TEACHING PROFESSION 8.1Work collaboratively to identify areas for school improvement, develop possible strategies, and assess results. 9.ENFORCEMENT AND COMPLIANCE WITH SCHOOL REGULATIONS 9.1Observe and implement the rules and regulations established for the school system. EVALUATION: Consistent with current Agreement Between the Longmeadow School Committee and the Longmeadow Education Association. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year in accordance with current Longmeadow Educators Association (Unit A) and Longmeadow School Committee Agreement SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:NONE
