Position Summary: Manufacturing Engineer Are you a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer passionate about driving efficiency and innovation? Join our team at the Becker facility and play a pivotal role in bridging the gap between design and production. You'll champion Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles, drive New Product Development (NPD) efficiency, and lead continuous improvement initiatives across metal fabrication, the machine room, and assembly . This role acts as a key engineering liaison, ensuring seamless transitions from design to production, and spearheads technical and mechanical continuous improvement, with a particular focus on the metal fabrication area. Key Responsibilities: New Product Development (NPD) & Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Serve as the primary liaison between engineering and manufacturing throughout the NPD lifecycle. Champion DFM principles, collaborating closely with design engineers to ensure new products are optimized for efficient and cost-effective manufacturing. Lead design reviews, focusing on manufacturability, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. Facilitate robust communication and collaboration among engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other relevant departments during NPD. Develop and maintain comprehensive DFM guidelines and best practices. Continuous Improvement Leadership (Metal Fab, Machine Room & Assembly): Lead and implement impactful continuous improvement projects within metal fabrication, the machine room, and assembly areas. Focus on key areas such as process optimization, waste reduction, cycle time improvement, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. Effectively utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and other relevant methodologies to drive improvement initiatives. Proactively identify and prioritize improvement opportunities through data analysis and close collaboration with shop floor personnel. Manage continuous improvement projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget. Track and report on the progress, impact, and ROI of all continuous improvement initiatives. Technical & Mechanical Expertise: Provide expert technical and mechanical support to optimize manufacturing operations. Proactively troubleshoot manufacturing problems and conduct thorough root cause analysis. Develop and implement innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing processes. Stay abreast of the latest manufacturing technologies and industry trends to recommend best practices. Ensure equipment operates as intended, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with external vendors for repairs when necessary. Coaching & Collaboration: Mentor programmers on best practices for CNC programming, code optimization, and efficient machine utilization. Coach assembly personnel on best practices for assembly techniques, rigorous quality control checks, and strict adherence to work instructions. Cultivate a collaborative environment where welders, programmers, and assembly personnel can openly share knowledge and learn from each other. Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Build strong, positive relationships with both shop floor personnel and management. Quality & Safety Champion: Champion a culture of quality excellence and safety throughout the entire manufacturing process. Collaborate with various departments to identify and swiftly address quality and/or safety issues. Design and implement tools and jigs to "mistake-proof" processes, enhancing product quality and reducing errors. Support plant leadership in implementing robust quality control measures and procedures. Champion safety with innovative solutions to reduce risk of injury. Promote a continuous culture of quality awareness and unwavering commitment to improvement. Key Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g., Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial) preferred. Experience: Proven experience in a manufacturing environment. Technical Skills: Proficiency with DXF files and CNC programming (e.g., Aspire). Experience with laser cutting, cnc routing, wire forming and/or welding is a significant plus. Familiarity with Lean Concepts and their application. Experience with New Product Development (NPD) and qualification processes is a plus. Experience with MRP systems (MiSys MRP system experience is a plus).
