Position Overview

Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, a Maintenance Technician A is responsible for routine preventative maintenance and downtime activities for the facility and equipment. Technician must work safely and independently in conjunction with fellow maintenance personnel and production personnel as tasks demand. Must also develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the process, process equipment, controls, maintenance tasks, and the maintenance store areas. Maintain communication links with co-workers, members of production crews, maintenance personnel, and supervision. Perform necessary functions to log and record maintenance work activities and parts check out. Work with engineering on assigned projects. Shift: Open availability for all shifts including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift.

Essential Job Functions

  1. Maintains a positive attitude and displays Company Core Values
  2. Observes and exhibits both common sense and Plant Safety rules
  3. Ability to properly use power hand tools drill, grinder, impact tools
  4. Able to properly use an electrical volt/ohm meter
  5. Performs basic carpentry skills
  6. Performs routine and non-routine tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager of equipment and facility
  7. Maintains a "willingness-to-learn-more" attitude through developed work habits, machine instruction booklets, self-taught skills courses, and outside educational programs
  8. Computer data entry daily work log/equipment log/parts used and needed
  9. Ability to work any shift and overtime when required including callouts
  10. Maintains steam system equipment
  11. Maintains water treatment through sampling and testing
  12. Able to work independently
  13. Able to lead, mentor, and train Maintenance Technicians B and C
  14. Able to act as supervisor in the absence of the Maintenance Manager when requested

Requirements

  1. Intermediate knowledge of blueprint and schematic reading
  2. Intermediate knowledge of plumbing copper, black iron, steel, PVC piping
  3. Intermediate knowledge of pneumatic devices and troubleshooting
  4. Intermediate knowledge of steam boilers and operating systems
  5. Intermediate knowledge of hydraulic devices and troubleshooting
  6. Advanced ability to install electrical conduit and wire circuitry
  7. Intermediate knowledge of water treatment testing
  8. Intermediate use of milling machine, drill press, hydraulic press, pipe threading machine
  9. Intermediate knowledge of Lubrication
  10. Intermediate knowledge of forklift operation and repair
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  12. Intermediate computer skills
  13. Complete knowledge of Safe work practices, PPE, LOTO, Confined Space, Hot work
  14. Advanced knowledge of mechanical machinery and troubleshooting
  15. Advanced knowledge of electrical circuits, control systems, and troubleshooting
  16. Advanced knowledge of electrical safe work practice
  17. Advanced knowledge of low- and high-pressure boilers and steam systems
  18. Journeyman Mechanical certification or Journeyman Electrical certification or documentation of training of electrical and mechanical knowledge or equivalent, preferred
  19. Welding certification, preferred
  20. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
  21. Able to regularly stand, push, pull, bend, stoop, grip, walk, and climb in an 810-hour shift
