Maintenance Technician Co-op, East Providence, RI
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Maintenance Engineering Co-op will support maintenance tasks focused on the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of production equipment, facility systems, and infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Expected Hours: Full-time Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Responsibilities:
Assist with preventative and corrective maintenance on machinery used in capacitor production and assembly (pressing machines, welding machines, ovens, testing equipment etc.)
Troubleshoot basic electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues under supervision.
Help maintain facility systems including HVAC, lighting, compressed air, and water filtration.
Support equipment installations, relocations, and upgrades.
Document maintenance activities, work orders, and equipment logs accurately and consistently.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve maintenance concerns quickly and safely
Follow safety protocols and help maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Assist with spare parts inventory and ordering supplies.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and suggest opportunities for equipment upgrades or procedural enhancements.
Use basic computer skills to navigate and input data into production systems to track progress, document results, and communicate effectively with the team.

Requirements: Criteria For Success
Currently enrolled in or recently completed a technical certification or degree program in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
Must be considered a U.S. Persons eligible to work in the United States
Possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset and personality with a hands-on can-do attitude.
General knowledge of manufacturing procedures preferred.
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, PLCs, schematics, and blueprints
General time management, communications, decision-making, and organization skills.
Ability to keep workspace clean and adhere to all safety rules and company policies.
Ability to use PCs and various software applications. Proficient in use of assembly equipment and tools.
Capability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and quotas
Possess a collaborative team-oriented mindset and personality with a hands-on can-do attitude.
Must demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance.
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
General office and manufacturing environment.
Exposure to hazards associated with manufacturing equipment and tools.
This position requires working near electrical and mechanical equipment that could potentially interfere with pacemaker function.
Ability to read and write in English
Requires manual dexterity and ability to manipulate small objects.
Repetitive hand movements for tasks like assembly or packaging.
Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds
Capability to use a hand truck and other assistive devices for items over 50 pounds
Prolonged standing on hard surfaces during shift
Walking to various stations or areas of the production floor.
Sitting, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling motions
Ability to handle small tools, parts, and machinery with precision.
Visual acuity for reading measurements, assembly instructions, and monitoring equipment.
Hearing ability to detect alarms, machinery sounds, or verbal instructions in a noisy environment
Will be required to wear appropriate PPE as outlined by company safety protocols.
