Preferred Primary Care Physicians is seeking a full-time LPN to work at our office in the Scott Township area. Prior Family Practice physician office experience is preferred. Ideal candidates will be experienced with Electronic Medical Records and have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment. Phlebotomy skills a must. Current PA license required. Key Responsibilities: Patient Assessment and Preparation: Prepare patients for provider visits, including rooming patients according to standards. Take and monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, temperature, height, and weight. Obtain and document patient histories, current medications, allergies, and family health history. Document patient care and maintain accurate health records, often utilizing electronic medical records (EMR) software.
Clinical Procedures and Treatments: Administer medications and vaccinations as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with protocols. Assist physicians with patient examinations, procedures, treatments, and interventions. Perform basic diagnostic tests, such as urinalysis, blood glucose monitoring, and assisting with EKGs. Collect blood or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for testing. Change dressings and remove sutures as necessary. Clean and maintain medical instruments and equipment. Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned.
Communication and Patient Education: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members to meet patient needs and ensure coordinated care. Provide patient-specific education on preventive care, chronic disease management, medications, and other pertinent areas. Act as a liaison between patients, families, and other healthcare providers, facilitating communication and explaining care plans. Address patient concerns and needs, providing emotional support during challenging times. Inform patients about their condition, treatment plans, and necessary lifestyle changes.
Administrative Tasks: Answer phones and schedule patient appointments. Handle patient referrals and manage communication between providers. Organize and maintain patient records. Perform triage within the scope of practice, based on clinical judgments and protocols. Order and manage stock supplies.
Education: Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program. Licensure: Current and active state LPN licensure or LPN applicant status. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) - American Heart Association.
Experience: One year of clinical patient care experience is often preferred, but not always required. Prior experience in a primary or specialty care physician's office is beneficial. Skills: Strong interpersonal communication, organization, and multitasking skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and with a team.
