Responsibilities:
As a Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
1. Assisting attorneys with all aspects of trial and case management, including the preparation of trial binders, exhibits, and witness files. 2. Conducting legal research and drafting legal documents, memoranda, and pleadings. 3. Coordinating and managing medical records, including review, organization, and analysis. 4. Assisting with deposition preparation, including drafting notices and subpoenas, and summarizing deposition transcripts. 5. Interacting with clients, experts, court personnel, and opposing counsel. 6. Maintaining and updating case management system and ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines. 7. Assisting with the preparation and filing of court documents. 8. Providing general administrative support to attorneys, including scheduling, file organization, and billing.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for the Litigation Paralegal/Legal Assistant position should possess the following qualifications:
1. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a litigation paralegal, with a strong emphasis on medical malpractice defense. 2. A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program, or equivalent work experience. 3. Proficient in the use of legal research software and case management systems. 4. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 5. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 6. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines. 7. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. 8. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality. 9. Familiarity with medical terminology and the ability to review and understand medical records is a plus.
