Job Summary The Department of Art & Design seeks applicants for a limited term faculty position for the 2025-2026 academic year beginning August 1, 2025, and ending May 11, 2026.This is a non-tenure track faculty position with rank of Lecturer. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses and participating in service within the department, College or University levels.
The VSU College of the Arts includes the Department of Art & Design, the Department of Music, and the Department of Communication Arts (Communication, Mass Media, Theatre & Dance, and MAIC). The College of the Arts is also home to the award-winning Valdosta Symphony Orchestra and the Peach State Summer Theatre, designated as the Official Musical Theatre of the State of Georgia. VSU is accredited by NASAD, NASM, and NAST. With nearly 90 faculty members and approximately 800 students, the College offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Responsibilities Department Summary
Position will be responsible for teaching up to 15 hours of undergraduate classes in art education and/or general education courses for non-majors, supervising student teachers, and participating in service at the department, College, and university levels.
Typical Allocation of Duties:
Teaching and Service - 100%
Teaches classes and meets assigned service obligations.
Required Qualifications EdD or MFA with relevant experience;
Knowledge of skills and practices in Art Education;
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning;
Understanding of standard safety practices and protocols;
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting.
Preferred Qualifications A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage;
A record of mentoring students;
Expertise in working with all levels of undergraduate students.
Proposed Salary Commensurate with experience.
