Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Legal Collections Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for managing and pursuing collection of delinquent accounts through legal avenues, including coordination with attorneys, courts, and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the collections process, legal procedures, and customer service best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Handle a portfolio of accounts requiring legal collections action.
Draft and prepare legal correspondence, including demand letters, court filings, and settlement agreements.
Liaise with attorneys, court personnel, and external agencies to ensure timely processing of legal actions.
Monitor case progress, including court dates, judgments, and garnishments.
Investigate and verify debtor information using available databases and public records.
Negotiate payment arrangements and settlements in accordance with company policies.
Maintain accurate documentation of all communications, actions, and case developments.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local debt collection laws (FDCPA, TCPA, etc.).
Support legal team with case preparation and document management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Business, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in legal collections, debt recovery, or a related legal field.
Familiarity with legal terminology and debt collection laws.
Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills.
Proficiency in case management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
