Job Title: Lecturer of Education Location: Gordon State College Regular/Temporary: Regular Full/Part Time: Full-Time Job ID: 287395 About Us Founded in 1852, GSC is a member of the University System of Georgia. The college has a distinctive legacy of excellent scholarship and service. GSC offers nearly 30 degrees, which includes multiple associate and baccalaureate pathways for students. With an enrollment of over 3,100 students, GSC offers an intimate academic setting with state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories. In this setting, students receive individualized attention that only a small college with dedicated faculty and staff can provide. Job Summary Primary responsibilities will include teaching education courses. Candidates may also be required to serve on department, school, and college committees as well as engage in professional development. Responsibilities Teaches undergraduate courses appropriate to his/her appointment and credentialing. Plans and conducts classes in a manner conducive to creating an effective learning environment which helps students achieve the educational outcomes set by the college, the standards of the discipline, and external accrediting agencies. Compiles, administers and evaluates examinations and assignments appropriate to the educational outcomes of the college. These evaluations should be based on student performance. Attends and participates in student orientation and registration activities as required. Serves on faculty committees at the department, college, or system level as elected by the faculty or appointed by the administration. Serves the college and community by providing expertise in his/her field to colleagues, schools, businesses, and other organizations. Maintains the required number of office hours each week. May help with student recruitment when requested. Prompt and regular performance of job responsibilities. Teaches classes at night and off-campus as needed. Attends formal academic exercises of the College, including the President's Convocation and Graduation, and on such occasions to wear appropriate academic attire. Complies with requirements of TITLE IX, Americans with Disabilities Act, FERPA, and other applicable state and federal statutes and policies. Required Qualifications Master's degree in education Evidence of ability as a teacher Evidence of engagement in institutional service and student success.
