Lead Certified Veterinary Technician - Anesthesia

The primary responsibility of the Lead Anesthesia Technician is to provide daily guidance, support, and leadership to the Anesthesia staff. The Lead Anesthesia Technician must have a strong technical background and knowledge of veterinary medicine, specifically in the area of anesthesia, practicing the highest quality of anesthetic monitoring care for the patients. They must recognize the importance of conveying this knowledge and expertise to others. A qualified candidate will assume the responsibility of ensuring the anesthesia staff receives optimal continuing education and training. The Lead Anesthesia Technician must also be willing to work with technicians of all levels of knowledge and abilities to ensure they are treated equitably and with compassion.

The ideal candidate is reliable, self-motivated, self-sufficient, independent, compassionate and able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment while maintaining a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Candidates should exhibit professional behavior, possess exceptional customer service skills and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.

Some duties include:

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the anesthesia staff members, particularly technical support during emergency situations and arrests as well as for and with patients requiring continuous recovery monitoring and intensive surgical care.
  • Provide continuous supervision, guidance, and support to all anesthesia staff.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors concerning staff performance.
  • Demonstrate and model strong technical skills and quality patient care perioperatively.
  • Provide technical support to the Anesthesia Technicians during emergency situations and arrests and with patients requiring intensive anesthetic monitoring.

We are looking for applicants with at least 5 years of certified veterinary technician experience, minimum of 3 years experience in an anesthesia exclusive role. As this position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, we require applicants to include a cover letter showcasing your writing skills.

  • Previous experience in a senior technician, training or supervisory position preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a certified veterinary technician
