Summary Description: The Lead After School Activity Leader supports the After School Program Site Lead by overseeing and guiding After School Activity Leaders, ensuring that high-quality, safe, and engaging programming is delivered to scholars. In addition to performing all responsibilities of a regular Activity Leader, the Lead acts as a mentor and role model, provides on-the-job training, ensures smooth daily operations, and helps maintain compliance with program standards and school culture.
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Under the direction of the Afterschool Program Site Lead, the Lead will support the coordination of daily after school programming, including schedules, rotations, and enrichment offerings.
Encourage team accountability by helping peers understand routines, follow policies, and maintain a productive, student-centered environment.
Supervises scholars to ensure their safety, development, growth, achievement, and general well-being
Model high expectations in student engagement, safety, and classroom management for afterschool activity leaders.
Mentor and guide new and current afterschool staff by sharing best practices and helping them acclimate to the expectations of the role.
Oversees the pick-up and supper portion of the after school program including grant compliance monitoring such as attendance
Act as site leader in the absence of the Afterschool Program Site Lead
Assist and guide students by appropriate role modeling, emotional support, patience, and a friendly, engaging attitude
Support behavior management across the program and assist peers in implementing the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
Collaborates in the development of minimum day recreational and educational activities.
Facilitates minimum day recreational and educational activities for universal pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students
Facilitates Friday activity and lessons groups of students
Actively enforces school wide expectations, the Grow Public Schools Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports framework, the organizations core principles, and the health and wellness policy
Provides guidance to students to increase academic and social emotional skills
Participates in professional development trainings
Supports the planning, recruitment of students, and implementation of Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer BridgesCamp Grow
Supervises Saturday Enrichment AcademySaturday celebration activities and trips
Maintain a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment that supports learning.
Serve as a program resource for peers and communicate staff needs or observations to the After School Program Site Lead
Performs other duties as assigned by the After School Program Site LeadManager and Administrative Team
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
At least one year of experience working with students in a TK-8 school setting is required.
High School Diploma required
A.A. degree or equivalent preferred
Experience working with ELL students a plus
Fluency in Spanish preferred
Experience working with large groups of children
