KUTV, Utah's #1 news station, is seeking a Part-time Assignment Editor to join our growing team and support all facets of our news department. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Generate and develop news stories. Monitor scanners, court documents, viewer tips, phone calls, social media sources, and other news sources. Assign field crews, coordinate coverage plans with TV and digital producers and managers, and assist reporters with gathering information for stories. Assess the importance of current events, react quickly to breaking news, and communicate effectively with staff. Plan for future events and follow-ups for upcoming shifts. Proficient with various social media platforms. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Balance demands of the news desk (email, phones, court checks, beat checks, story prep) while accommodating reporter and producer requests and projects. Recognize and pitch stories important to viewers and compelling for television. Thrives under pressure, thinks quickly, and seeks the next big story.
