About Us Mystic Valley Regional Charter School (MVRCS), located in Malden, Massachusetts, is a K–12 public charter school serving over 1,700 students since its founding in 1998. Position Overview: Physical Education Teacher & Head Track & Field Coach Mystic Valley is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Physical Education Teacher to join our faculty, with the additional responsibility of serving as Head Coach for our Track & Field program. The ideal candidate is a passionate educator and coach dedicated to promoting student development both in the classroom and on the field. This dual role offers a unique opportunity to inspire lifelong health and fitness while mentoring student-athletes to achieve excellence in track and field. Key Responsibilities As Physical Education Teacher: Create and maintain a structured, engaging classroom environment aligned with school expectations

Deliver the approved physical education curriculum, including Direct Instruction and Core Knowledge programs, with fidelity

Monitor, document, and report student progress regularly

Participate in all required professional development and training sessions

Collaborate with grade-level teams and staff in meetings, contributing to curriculum development and instructional planning

Engage in weekly peer practice sessions, as applicable

Prepare and distribute four progress reports and four report cards annually

Maintain open communication with parents and promptly address any academic or behavioral concerns

Support school operations by assisting with designated duties such as arrival, lunch/recess, and dismissal

As Head Track & Field Coach: Lead and oversee the middle and/or upper school Track & Field programs

Develop and implement effective training plans that foster athletic growth and development

Mentor, motivate, and guide student-athletes both on and off the field

Ensure a safe, inclusive, and positive environment during practices and competitions

Promote the school’s core values of sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth

Qualifications & Requirements Experience teaching physical education or leading youth-focused athletic programs

Prior coaching experience in Track & Field at the middle or high school level is strongly preferred

Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills

A genuine passion for health, wellness, and athletic development

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, or a related field preferred

Successful completion of the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL) within one year of hire
