Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Employee Relations, the Senior HR Generalist supports the employee relations, workers' compensation, unemployment compensation, leave of absence, and other related HR functions for all Pressley Ridge employees.
Responsibilities Support/ Service Delivery Employee Relations Handles routine employee relations questions and concerns that arise related to HR policies, practices, disciplinary matters, performance evaluation, etc. Investigates problems such as working conditions, disciplinary actions, employee complaints, and compliance concerns. Provides guidance and recommendations for problem/issue resolution. Notifies leadership appropriately of concerns and investigations in the programs for which they are responsible. Supports payroll, including new hires, terminations, and workflows in the HRIS, etc. Reviews and advises on timekeeping issues/concerns. Supports payroll audit requests, reconciliations, and year-end procedures. Benefit Administration Administers the region’s new hire benefit enrollment process. Leads annual open enrollment process and any related benefit matters during the year. Assists with company wide communication on benefit initiatives like wellness programs, challenges, reminders of utilization, mid-year check-ups, etc. Workers’ Compensation Oversees the HR Generalist’s preparation and analysis of reports for the organization and regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA log injury reports, and other reports as requested). Partners with Pressley Ridge’s external supports and has internal responsibility to ensure that all Workers Compensation claims are accurately and promptly processed, any/ all documentation is sent to the appropriate parties, physician panels of providers are updated and distributed, works with programs and employees regarding the utilization of modified duty, and acts as liaison with the workers’ compensation insurance carrier, providers, and employees. Coordinates the company’s compliance efforts related to relevant OSHA standards. Unemployment Compensation Handles unemployment requests and appeals process. Represents Pressley Ridge as spokesperson at Unemployment Compensation hearings. Oversees the organization’s unemployment compensation appeals process, completing all required forms, filing appeals as necessary, and representing Pressley Ridge as spokesperson at Unemployment Compensation appeal hearings. Regularly reviews claims to identify trends. Keeps accurate tracking that will relate to determining contributory or reimbursable status in each state we operate in. Supports the HR Generalist and HR Specialist with response to claims and/ or appeals as needed. Leave of Absences Coordinates with the HR Generalist to administer the Family Medical Leave policy/procedures in compliance with applicable federal laws. Tracks employee usage of FMLA and addresses employee and leadership questions related to such leave. Processes Leave of Absence (LOA) requests, including but is not limited to, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Workers’ Compensation, Short-Term Disability (STD), etc., ensures all paperwork is completed in an accurate and timely fashion, and works with employees to obtain missing documentation. Processes requests for Accommodation; holds interactive dialogue with employees and programs accordingly. Recommends outcomes. Other Key Responsibilities Provides programs with feedback, support, and analysis for various HR topics. Conducts surveys as requested by the Director of Employee Relations. Is responsible for completing tasks, projects, and assignments in furtherance of the organization’s strategic goals and to ensure HR best practices. Assists the Director of Employee Relations in responding to various governmental and provider surveys detailing workforce characteristics. Answers routine questions about HR topics from supervisors and employees. In partnership with HR Director, develops and facilitates training to program directors, supervisors, and employees on HR topics as assigned. Coordinates with Training department on recommended training needs. Regularly visits programs.
Communication Participates in meetings and other activities internal to Pressley Ridge; specifically, but not limited to monthly HR staff meetings.
Documentation Completes all required paperwork that is legible, accurate and uses professional language, and meets deadlines. Maintains data within the HRIS and other HR systems or tracking. Confirms accuracy of all data entered and ensures information is available on a timely basis.
Risk Management and Safety Ensures work is compliant with local, state, and federal employment laws and regulations, as well as internal organization policy. Supports internal and external audits as needed and as scheduled. Ensures compliance in employee files, including but not limited to, driver’s licenses, auto insurance, clearances, etc. Ensures that all required postings are on program bulletin boards.
Supervision Receives supervision. Receive supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible in person regarding program matters.
Leadership Advises and assists Program/Department leadership on disciplinary actions and corrective action plans. Collaborates with Pressley Ridge management and administrative staff as needed. In partnership with HR Generalist and Director of Employee Relations, coordinates efforts with Pressley Ridge’s internal training department and trains program/department leadership on Human Resource related topics, procedures, etc.
Professional Development Shows commitment to learning new skills, understanding new legislation and/or changes in employment law that may impact Pressley Ridge. Continues education within the HR field by regularly attending webinars, conferences, work groups, etc. Qualifications Credentials/Licensure: Valid driver’s license, safe driving record, and auto insurance required.
Clearances: State Police FBI Child Abuse Clearances CPSL Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training per state regulation. Working Conditions Physical Demands This position requires operating a keypad device 75% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Travel is required approximately 5 times per month but can vary and works in weather conditions about 25% of the day. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. Walking is required 10% of the day. Standing occurs 10% of the day. Sitting happens 80% of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 10% of the day. This function routinely lifts 25 pounds, 4 times per day. The maximum lift is 50 pounds, 1 time per day. Mental Demands Frequently performs multiple tasks and occasionally makes quick decisions. Continually needs to concentrate, handle distractions, and a diversity of problems.
Environmental Factors Environmental factors require this position offices and various Pressley Ridge locations/program inclusive of schools and residential settings. Travel, local and overnight, to various programs/ regions is expected on an as-needed basis to fulfill the duties/ responsibilities of the position.
Working Hours Traditional office hours with flexibility to meet department and employee/program needs.
