Head Of Content Design

The Head Of Content Design (HCD) is responsible for setting the standard for the user experience across Ring, Blink, and Amazon Key's physical and digital product suites through content design and writing; meeting customer needs throughout their shopping and learning journeys. The HCD leverages their expertise to lead multiple teams in developing high-impact content strategiesturning them into core language systems, information architectures, and user-friendly education for a cohesive product experience at scale across all three brands. They synthesize complex customer, market, and business data to inform customer experience and business strategy; helping teams identify pain points and drive improvements for comprehension, accessibility, and conversion. This position requires flexibility to work across multiple time zones, with regular domestic and international travel for in-person meetings, events, and workshops.

You are an imaginative leader and strategic thinker; experienced with managing multiple teams and driving innovation through established and successful global content design systems in a complex, multi-brand environment. You tailor products with human-centered thinkingconsidering every type of user and detailto ship on-time and on-brief across diverse product lines. You bring deep expertise in verbal identity and interaction to support complex data and learning needs across various technologies. Above all, you are focused on solving real problems for real people through collaborative research, content strategy, and iteration, while balancing the unique needs of Ring, Blink, and Amazon Key.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Define and evangelize global content guidelines and best practices to standardize frameworks and methodologies for scaling design
  • Own content lifecycle; lead cross-org design reviews and influence product outcomes for customers
  • Use data analysis, user research, and benchmarking to substantiate content decisions at the executive level
  • Lead strategic alignment across orgs, advising on core UX disciplines and processes
  • Align teams towards coherent approaches; communicate complex concepts clearly across diverse portfolios
  • Incorporate post-launch retros and feedback for analysis-based optimization
  • Set content vision and optimize org structures and mechanisms to meet high-impact business goals
  • Align content, technology, and education challenges to scale new product solutions
  • Manage complex programs across multiple teams and brands
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration and innovation for integrated experiences
  • Develop and mentor leaders within the content design organization
  • Represent content design at the executive level, advocating for resources and strategic initiatives

A day in the life will involve overseeing content design teams across Ring, Blink, and Amazon Key, aligning design systems with Amazon's smart home vision. You'll set objectives for the expanding function, champion design thinking, and optimize customer journeys using advanced analytics. Collaborating with executives, you'll shape the unified product strategy for Amazon's home security solutions. You'll foster innovation across brands, represent Amazon's design philosophy externally, and lead initiatives to create transformative products that enhance our smart home ecosystem and drive market growth.

About the team Ring Blink Key Sidewalk (RBKS) Design is a collaborative, multi-disciplinary organization of designers, engineers, writers, researchers, product managers, and program managers working together to bring the RBKS product vision to life. We enjoy what we do, have big ideas, and tackle complex problems by taking risks that drive global solutions. In every work stream, we immerse ourselves in insights, and invent on behalf of our customers. We brainstorm scenarios they will benefit from and solutions to pain pointscrafting innovative products that aim to connect the physical and digital customer journey.

Basic qualifications include:

  • 10+ years of design experience
  • 5+ years of leading multi-discipline design teams
  • Experience managing teams
  • Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience presenting to and effectively advising senior leaders outside of design
  • Experience embedding design within product teams for agile design and development collaboration

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $162,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
