One of our clients, a well-established, privately-held transportation equipment manufacturing company, seeks a General Manager to spearhead US operations from their Orlando-based facility. This executive position presents an opportunity to accelerate expansion across a ~$20M integrated P&L encompassing both USA and Australian markets.

The successful candidate will assume full P&L responsibility while directing engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams. This position emphasizes driving expansion within the commercial fleet sector, specifically targeting major truck and bus fleet operators throughout the United States. Collaboration with Australian operations is essential, with direct reporting to the Managing Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements and ethical guidelines
  • Drive business planning, budgeting, forecasting and financial oversight
  • Cultivate and sustain partnerships with key customers, suppliers and industry partners
  • Execute project planning, delivery and customer satisfaction programs
  • Deliver strategic leadership to enhance organizational culture and results
  • Formulate and execute competitive expansion strategies for US and target markets
  • Maintain complete P&L responsibility encompassing engineering, sales, and operations
  • Conduct travel throughout the USA for customer visits as needed, plus periodic international travel to Australia

Requirements

Essential:

  • Outstanding communication and relationship development abilities
  • Demonstrated P&L leadership experience and financial expertise
  • Proven track record scaling operations for a mid-market company (~$20M P&L scope)
  • Strategic mindset combined with hands-on operational management approach
  • Solid mechanical understanding and technical competency
  • University degree in relevant field
  • Extensive US market background with mid-capital equipment and extended sales cycles
  • Exceptional people leadership and team development skills

Preferred:

  • Established relationships with major truck/bus fleet operators across the USA
  • Manufacturing and assembly operations background
  • Technical expertise and experience at comparable role level
  • Engineering degree coupled with MBA credentials
  • Proven history of sustained business expansion in the American trucking sector

Benefits

  • Paid Time Off: 2 weeks vacation + 5 sick days (flexibility for additional week)
  • Base Salary: $140,000 - $170,000
  • Bonus: Performance-based on revenue and EBIT achievement

Location & Travel
  • Primary Location: Orlando, Florida (on-site at manufacturing facility)
  • Travel Requirements: Regular domestic travel to customer locations; periodic international travel to Australia (roughly quarterly)
