Our products range from hand held metal detectors to Real Time Tomography used to inspect baggage, cargo, people, vehicles and other objects for people, weapons, explosives, drugs, money, and other contraband. Rapiscan Systems security and inspection devices can be found in a wide range of locations such as, airports, border crossings, railway stations, seaports and terminals, government and military installations and nuclear facilities.Working independently with very limited supervision, s/he performs field service functions by installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and servicing all Rapiscan security products at customer sites. Typically handles complex products and more complex problems as needed. The FST must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician to be part of our fast paced and quality focused team. The candidate for this position will need to be based out of the Maryland area.Responsibilities:Provide service support to regional customers by installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining x-ray security systesm using build-in diagnostics and external test equipment.perform and document all maintenance activitiesDiagnose errors or technical problems, repairs or replaces defective units/components as appropriateSet up and utilize specialized test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctionsconduct equipment/system acceptance testing following established procedures.Conduct and comprehend customer requirements, trainings, and recommendations/briefings as needed.Perform system demonstrations at customer sites and foster positive customer relationshipsPrepare and document the details of resolution to the problem from each customer site upon completion of the visit. Enter infromation into Navision, as well as an internally designed database accurately and on time.Uphold the company’s core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and TeamworkDemonstrate behavior consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and ConductIt is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problemDuties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.Qualifications:Associate of Science degree in electronics or a related technical discipline or equivalent military training or equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.4 years of experience in field service environment, x-ray industry highly desired or Bachelor of Science degree in electronics, engineering, or related technical disciplineMust have knowledge of electronic and mechanical assemblies, as well as wiring diagrams and schematics.Familiarity with test equipment (DVM and oscilloscope) and experience with high voltage and x-ray producing equipment preferred.Maintain clear and concise business communication proficiency, both oral and writtenDetail oriented, well organized, and self-motivated with strong interpersonal skillsComputer literate: competency in use of programs within MS Office Suite and aptitude for learning specialized software programs.Must be team player with ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.Flexible schedule based on locations’ contractual operational; non-standard hours including on-call, weekends and holidays required.Available to travel on short notice, non-standard hours, on weekends and holidays to assist other field sites as required.Travel required 0 - 75% by air or car with some overnights.Ability to pass an in-depth background check - Sensitive Security Information (SSI).Must be a US citizen.Must possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.Physical RequirementThe physical requirements described below are representative of those that must be met by a field service technician to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.Requires ability to:Walk = 20% -25%Stand = 35%-40%Stoop = 20%-25%Squat = 15%-20%Kneel = 35%-40%Reach = 15% -20%Bend = 10%-15%Sit = 85%-90%Climb =
