Job Summary/Description:
WXIX FOX19 has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Producer to lead our morning team to produce engaging, compelling, and impactful newscasts. Our EP works closely with news & station managers to achieve strategic content & ratings goals. In addition, the successful candidate will exercise strong news judgment, review newscast rundowns, and approve scripts with an eye towards accuracy and promotable content. You will collaborate with producers on rundowns, story selection, showcasing, formats, graphic elements, and pace and flow of newscasts. You will work with multimedia reporters/photographers to determine the direction of stories. You will occasionally fill in line produce for newscasts during vacation periods or illness.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee the consistent creation of urgent, relevant, impactful newscasts
- Lead/ actively participate in editorial discussions, review rundowns and scripts, and develop coverage plans
- Demonstrate vision for the execution of the First Alert Weather brand
- Collaborate with news leadership team to execute an effective content strategy
- Keep producers engaged through consistent, constructive feedback and training
- Oversee live on-air product during designated hours
- Manage producer schedules and show assignments
- Produce newscasts as needed (fill-in)
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 5 years of line producing experience, medium to large market experience preferred
- Minimum of 2 years in a news leadership role
- Excellent news judgment, organizational, time management, and communication skills are required
- Scheduling flexibility required
