We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers in fostering an engaging and positive learning environment. The Instructional Assistant will assist with instructional tasks, classroom management, and individualized student support, contributing to the academic success and social development of students. This role provides an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' education and development while working alongside a dedicated team of educators.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the classroom teacher with the implementation of daily lessons, assignments, and activities.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, especially those requiring extra help to stay engaged and on task.
Monitor and support students in their academic progress, ensuring that all students have access to the tools and resources they need.
Help with classroom management and behavior support, maintaining a positive, respectful learning environment.
Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources.
Supervise students during non-classroom activities such as lunch, recess, and field trips as required.
Work with students to reinforce learning and assist in academic, social, and emotional development.
Communicate with the teacher, staff, and parents to relay relevant student information and updates.
Participate in school meetings, training sessions, and professional development as directed.
Help maintain an organized and efficient classroom, including setting up and cleaning up materials and resources.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree or higher in Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.
Experience working with students in an educational setting is preferred, but not required.
Ability to work effectively with students of various academic levels and abilities.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with a team of educators, students, and parents.
Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting students’ academic and social growth.
Basic computer skills and proficiency with educational software is a plus.
Ability to assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials and managing student behavior.
Ability to lift, move, or assist students when necessary.
Completion of any required training or certifications as mandated by the school or district.
Additional Requirements:
Background check and fingerprinting as required by [State or Local Regulations].
Completion of any required training or certifications upon hire, including first aid, CPR, and behavior management training.

Compensation and Benefits:
Full-Time Exempt Salary Position in accordance with the established Instructional Assistant Salary Scale. AKFCS also provides a comprehensive benefits package which includes the following:
