Salary Grade - $25.50 per hour 20 hours per week
Benefits - Paid time off and sick leave prorated by FTE. 403b with a 4% match after 90 days of employment, 11.5 Holidays. Discounts on Preschool, After School, and Summer Camp. EAP program, Fitness center on site.
Report to – Director of Community Services
Work environment – 12691 NW Dogwood, Portland, Oregon 97229. Occasional required meetings offsite, most frequently at 1737 NW 26th Ave, Portland, Oregon 97210
Schedule – Monday to Friday between 9AM and 5PM. Occasional weekend and evening hours as required.

- Summary
The Resident Services Coordinator works at the Opal, a 54-unit housing community created for LGBTQ+ older adults to provide a safe and supportive home environment where they can thrive. The Housing Stability and Resource Specialist works independently and collaboratively with Friendly House/EPS and property manager teams, and Elder Pride Service community partners, to support housing stability and resource connection. The Resident Services Coordinator (RSC) is knowledgeable of LBGTQ+ history, the issues of older adults, and understands the diversity of local LGBTQ+ community and the intersection of aging and the queer experience.
Responsibilities and Duties
Key Responsibilities:
Assist residents in accessing services and advocating for their needs.
Establish trusting, professional relationships with residents.
Respond to property managers when concerns arise, supporting residents to successfully maintain housing and prevent eviction.
Establish relationships with new residents, supporting integration, and leading to success in the building.
Provide support or coverage for EPS Opal Engagement Specialist when needed.
Develop positive professional relationships working collaboratively with Elder Pride Services (EPS) team members, Friendly House staff, Property Management, and community partners to support residents in housing stability.
General Responsibilities:
Track and report on service provision metrics.
Actively participate in Friendly House All Staff, EPS Team meetings, and at least one FH staff committee.
Positively promote and encourage a supportive culture reflective of Friendly House values, mission, and history.
Responsible for the safety of residents and property.
Report any alleged or perceived abuse or neglect of an older adult to Adult Protective Services (APS).
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Gerontology, Health Studies, Social Justice or related field. Alternative education/lived experience considered in lieu of degree.
2-3 years of increasing responsibility in social work or human services with an emphasis on direct client work. Experience in resident services, case management, or direct services with older adults, preferably working with LBGTQ+ community members.
Knowledge of LBGTQ+ history, diversity, local LGBTQ+ community and the intersection of aging and the queer experience. Knowledge of the unique needs and strengths of older adults.
Respectful and sensitive to the values and lived experience of LGBTQ+ older adults.
Exceptional communication skills, including active listening, written and verbal communication and interpersonal relationships.
Demonstrated use of professional judgement while providing services to vulnerable diverse populations .
Dependable, reliable, punctual.
Flexibility to adapt services and programs to meet resident and organization’s needs.
Competent in implementing Strengths Based Approach.
Computer literate. Proficient with MS 365 and virtual meeting platforms.
Self-Starter: Takes initiative, can start tasks independently, and demonstrates critical thinking skills.??
Successful complete of a criminal background check (ORCHARDS) and motor vehicle report (MVR)
Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time up to 30-50%, with the ability to move, traverse in the office and work environment. Use hands/fingers to handle/ or feel. Operate the computer and other office equipment. Occasionally ascend stairs or walk in uneven terrain. May need to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend. Communicate information and ideas so others will understand and exchange accurate information in these situations. The ability to see or observe detail at close range. May lift or move items up to 30lbs. May be exposed to smells, cold/heat and outdoor environments.
