Your role includes responding to calls, delivering medical services, and ensuring safe transport to medical facilities while continuing necessary care throughout the journey. EMTs must perform their duties calmly and efficiently, even in high-stress situations. It is crucial to assess medical conditions accurately and apply lifesaving procedures based on your training. **A valid Tennessee EMT License is required.** Conditions for Employment: Completion of an Employment Application and background checks, including a Motor Vehicle Report, Drug Screen, and final approval by the Company. Please note: Marijuana is illegal in the state of Tennessee. A positive test will void any offer of employment and may lead to termination. Key Responsibilities: Adhere to the State of Tennessee Policies and Procedures. Respond to urgent and non-urgent medical requests for aid. Evaluate patients' conditions and devise appropriate treatment plans based on Vital Medical Transport’s Standing Medical Orders. Administer medications according to the established protocols. Safely secure patients using backboards and restraints during transport. Assist in transferring patients to healthcare facilities and accurately report observations to medical staff. Create comprehensive patient care reports and document all medical care provided. Restock medical supplies and maintain equipment cleanliness after each use. Drive ambulances safely while adhering to all traffic regulations. Facilitate patient transport between medical facilities. Required Qualifications: At least 18 years of age. High School Diploma or GED. State of Tennessee Licensure as an EMT-Basic. Valid Driver's License with an excellent driving record. Competency and experience at the BLS level of service. Current CPR Certification. Strong interpersonal skills, including compassion, listening, and communication. Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills. Preferred Qualifications: PHTLS Certificate. ITLS Certificate. National Registry Certifications. Employment Conditions: Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment physical examination, drug test, and criminal background check. Annual TB and rubella screenings may be required. Comply with the Vital Medical Transport Compliance Program. Maintain all required certifications and licenses throughout your employment. Working Conditions: Work in various environments, possibly facing extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, fumes, and loud noises. Physical activity includes heavy lifting and the ability to move objects over 150 pounds. Ability to stand, bend, kneel, walk, and lift up to 150 pounds repeatedly during shifts. Exposure to potentially hazardous situations; must assess scenarios calmly and take charge as needed. Interact with blood or blood-borne pathogens; safety protocols are essential when caring for patients. Compensation: $18 - $24.50 per hour.
