Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustments or repairs Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical problems using appropriate testing devices Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and components Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures using hand tools and power tools Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes Collaborate with other construction professionals, such as HVAC technicians, plumbers, and general contractors Provide cost estimates for electrical projects Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used Train and mentor apprentice electricians Respond to emergency calls and provide after-hours support as needed Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and best practices Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program Valid journeyman electrician license Minimum of 5 years of experience as a licensed electrician Proficiency in both residential and commercial electrical systems Thorough understanding of National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Excellent communication and customer service skills Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints Proficiency in using various electrical testing equipment Knowledge of safety procedures and OSHA regulations Valid driver's license and clean driving record Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces Comfortable working at heights and on ladders Preferred Qualifications Master electrician license Experience with low voltage systems (data, voice, security) Knowledge of energy-efficient lighting systems and renewable energy technologies Familiarity with building automation systems OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
