Position Summary Mainstream Engineering is seeking a talented and self-motivated Electrical Product Development Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and transition of electronic products from R&D to production. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on innovation, hands-on engineering, and continuous improvement across both product design and manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for developing custom electronic control boards and supporting their integration into thermal control, HVAC, and power electronics systems, while also ensuring designs are optimized for manufacturability and production scalability. Electrical Design & Development: Design and develop electronic controls for thermal control and energy conversion systems Create PCB schematics and layouts using Altium; fabricate and test circuit boards Program microcontrollers and interface with peripheral devices using common communication protocols Design and implement analog and digital circuits, power supplies, and wire harnesses Use tools such as LabVIEW, C/C++, MATLAB, and LTSPICE for modeling and testing Develop custom lab test instrumentation for validation and R&D evaluation Productization & Manufacturing Support: Transition new products from R&D to production and support product launches Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) principles to new and existing designs Work with electrical and manufacturing engineers to design and implement efficient fabrication and assembly processes Support development of production tooling, fixturing, and detailed work instructions Process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) to address production improvements Understand and apply manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection molding, sheet metal, and more Apply GD&T principles (ASME Y14.5) to ensure robust and quality-driven designs Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (or Mechanical Engineering with electrical engineering minor), minimum GPA 3.3 U.S. Citizenship (due to ITAR regulations) Proficiency in PCB design and electrical schematics Experience with microcontroller programming and electronics prototyping Strong CAD and 3D modeling skills Experience with DFM and manufacturing support Knowledge of electronics testing, debugging, and system integration Preferred: 5+ years of engineering experience in product development and/or manufacturing Experience designing production tooling and fixturing Familiarity with fabrication methods: CNC machining, sheet metal, molding, etc. Background as an electronics technician or hands-on R&D engineer Why Join Us?
