What You Will Do:
Reporting to the Operations Manufacturing Manager, the 1st Shift EDM Manufacturing Supervisor will play a crucial role in fostering a culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth. This position involves planning, directing, and coordinating production activities to ensure efficient and effective operations. The Supervisor will help develop and oversee Team Leads, Set-Up Technicians, Operators, Machinists, and other staff involved in product processing. Additionally, they will promote an intentional culture of excellence, teamwork, and growth within the team. This key role is responsible for guiding and coordinating production efforts among all employees engaged in product processing.
Essential Duties and Tasks:
Provide daily supervision for the first shift, co-leading with the Conventional Manufacturing Supervisor.
Direct employees effectively to achieve production goals, maintain high-quality standards, and meet delivery schedules.
Ensure precise control chart completion and accurate entries in the ERP system.
Consistently surpass production quality and quantity expectations.
Proactively drive the resolution of daily production challenges while enhancing processes.
Identify and report equipment and process issues, ensuring swift and effective resolutions.
Cultivate high-performing teams that boost job satisfaction and retain talent.
Provide constructive feedback and coaching to empower employees toward success.
Foster clear communication regarding policies and procedures to ensure understanding and compliance.
Take charge of department safety, housekeeping, and employee engagement.
Participate actively in performance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
Inspire team members by setting an example and sharing expertise generously.
Adapt seamlessly to changes and tight deadlines while maintaining focus and flexibility.
Contribute significantly to New Product Introduction and Product Development initiatives.
Commit to ongoing professional growth and development.
Demonstrate reliable attendance and uphold a respectful demeanor.
Uphold AS9100 quality standards and ensure compliance with NADCAP accreditation.
Education and Experience:
EDM experience, including operations with wire and sinker types, and technical proficiency in EDM processes such as machine operation and CAD/CAM programming.
Associate’s degree or CNC machining certificate; alternatively, 5+ years of relevant work experience.
5+ years in conventional machining/manufacturing, preferably in aerospace.
5+ years in a leadership role with 30+ direct reports.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of ADP Workforce Now is a plus.
Must meet ITAR definition of §120.15 as a U.S. person.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Climbing stairs occasionally when meeting with engineers or other staff members.
May need to lift, push, or pull items weighing up to 35 lbs. on an occasional basis.
Regularly required to stand, sit, walk, talk, hear, reach, bend, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard.
Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, color perception, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have 20/20 vision (either naturally or corrected) and pass an annual vision test as required.
