Are you passionate about community growth and economic development? The City of Seabrook is seeking an experienced and dynamic Economic Development Director to lead efforts in promoting business growth, retention, and development within our thriving waterfront community.
Position Summary: Reporting directly to the City Manager, the Economic Development Director oversees and coordinates economic development activities for the City of Seabrook and the Seabrook Economic Development Corporation (SEDC). This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing strategies that attract new businesses, retain existing businesses, and foster a vibrant economic environment for our community.
Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement economic development strategies aligned with City goals.
Collaborate with the City Manager, City Council, and SEDC Board.
Manage business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts.
Administer incentive programs, grants, and marketing initiatives.
Build strong relationships with developers, business owners, and key stakeholders.
Maintain current and professional marketing materials, including the economic development website.
Prepare and manage the EDC annual budget.
Evaluate and pursue grant opportunities.
Support special projects, events, and community outreach related to economic growth.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Economic Development, Public Administration, Business, or a related field (Master's preferred).
CEcD Certification is preferred.
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in economic development, business development, or municipal government.
Strong knowledge of economic development principles, state and local codes, infrastructure planning, and financial incentive programs.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to obtain.
