Description
Published Description: 2 full time and 1 part time openings for SLPs ( not SLPA) in Douglas County School District in our ECE department for the 2025-26 school year. Some details regarding the positions are as follows: ALL positions are in ECE (preschool) classrooms located on these elementary campuses. All services are to be delivered in the classroom ( not via pull-out services) and must be in-person ( not virtual therapy services).
Site locations: Central Parker : Gold Rush Elementary (GRE) (1 classroom) - start full/stay full Frontier Valley Elementary (FVE) (1 classroom) - rarely fills Iron Horse Elementary (IHE) (3 classrooms) - fills slowly but rarely to max capacity
Technically Parker, but closer to Castle Rock : Franktown Elementary (FE) (1 classroom) - rarely fills
Assignments are currently as follows: 1.0 FTE: Gold Rush + Frontier Valley (& back-up support for Iron Horse) 1.0 FTE: Iron Horse (receiving back-up support from GRE/FVE SLP) 0.5 FTE: Franktown
a 0.50 FTE is served in full day increments throughout the year. The expectation is for the SLP to serve 50% of the standard # of contracted days (185) in the school year for a total of 92.5 days/year. This averages out to ~2.5 days/week throughout the year. This may be served via a schedule of 2 days one week, 3 days the next & so on, or it may be served as 2 full days + 1/2 day each week. There are several required days throughout the year for mandatory trainings, PD, etc. These are counted as part of the 50% days within the year.
All ECE programs are served in 1/2 day sessions: AM = 3 y/o (2.5 hrs/day) M-Th PM = 4 y/o (3 hrs/day) M-F
Student demographics for all class sessions include: 8 (max) - students w/ IEPs (each session - AM & PM) 8 (max) - community peers (each session - AM & PM) Total = 16 (max) total students per session (AM & PM)
Staff hours are generally 8-4 (Franktown is 830-430). There is an average of 13 hours/week of non-student contact time to complete all essential duties required for the position including: data entry, progress monitoring documentation, evaluation report writing, site review (team) meetings, IEP meetings, etc.
Typical caseload for a 1.0 FTE = ~32 students (2 classrooms = 4 sessions (AM/PM x2) total) Typical caseload for a 0.5 FTE = ~16 students (1 classroom = 2 sessions (AM/PM x1) total)
First day of school for new staff: August 5 (students start on 8/18) Last day of school for certified staff: potentially June 3 (depending on what type of End of Year closure is required). If all EOY tasks are completed the last day could align with classified staff last day: May 22 Last day of school for students: May 20
Days that are not paid within the contract include any snow days called by the district. Delayed start days are paid because we do still serve students in the PM sessions on those days. PD days are part of the contract in ECE as they are required for licensing. Staff may not "work from home" or do any other "remote location work" on contracted service days. All contracted service days must be provided at a designated district location.
Added bonus in DCSD is that all staff receive free meals mid-day for lunch. It's the same as the student lunch offerings of 2 healthy entree items & a full harvest bar (salad bar) with fresh fruits & veggies daily.
