Position Summary
The Early Childhood Director provides leadership, spiritual guidance, and program
oversight for the early childhood ministry (birth through pre-kindergarten) at North County
Christ the King Church. This role is responsible for overseeing the Blessings Place
Coordinator and all related childcare ministries, as well as directly leading Sunday morning
classes, Wednesday evening Adventure Club, and the annual Day Camp for 35-year-olds.
The Early Childhood Director ensures that every environment is safe, engaging, age-
appropriate, and centered on growing young hearts in the love and knowledge of Jesus.
Key Responsibilities
1. Supervise the Blessings Place Coordinator and Associated Ministries
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to the Blessings Place Coordinator.
- Ensure high-quality care and spiritual nurture for infants through toddlers.
- Partner with the Coordinator on policies, volunteer recruitment, safety, and curriculum.
- Monitor and support all weekend and midweek childcare environments under Blessings
Place.
2. Lead Sunday Morning Preschool Classes (Ages 35)
- Develop and implement age-appropriate Bible-based curriculum.
- Recruit, train, and schedule volunteer teachers and classroom assistants.
- Ensure smooth and safe operation of all preschool rooms during Sunday services.
- Create a fun, welcoming, and spiritually rich environment for preschoolers.
3. Lead Wednesday Evening Adventure Club (Ages 35)
- Plan and lead Adventure Club programming for preschoolers.
- Organize curriculum, games, worship, and crafts with a spiritual focus.
- Build and lead a strong volunteer team for weekly club nights.
- Coordinate with broader Adventure Club leadership for alignment and communication.
4. Oversee Day Camp for Ages 35
- Design and lead a week-long, engaging, faith-centered day camp each summer.
- Develop the theme, schedule, curriculum, and daily activities.
- Recruit, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
- Ensure safety, fun, and spiritual growth throughout the week of camp.
Qualifications
- A strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ
- A passion for early childhood ministry and the spiritual development of young children
- Proven leadership and team-building skills
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Experience in childrens ministry or early childhood education preferred
- Ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteers effectively
- Understanding of child safety and protection policies and procedures
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of North County Christ the King Church
Work Schedule
This position requires availability on Sunday mornings, Wednesday evenings, and during
summer Day Camp week, along with additional planning and administrative hours during
the week.
