JOB TITLE: Drafter
JOB STATUS: Full-time
SALARY: $65,000-$80,000/year commensurate with experience
POSITION SUMMARY: The Drafter works with a team of Kitchen Designers and converts designs into technical plans, producing accurate drawings in a timely manner to CCDI construction standards and to the design requested. This position plays a vital role in ensuring consistent and accurate drawings through understanding of products offered, effective communication, and time management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Liaises with designers to implement designs, product selections, & customer requests. Creates detailed drawings with AutoCAD. Produces floor plans, elevations, diagrams, and layouts to illustrate designs. Prepares and review rough sketches along with the Designer. Identifies potential operational issues and redesign products to improve functionality. Ensures final designs comply with regulations and quality standards. Creates manuals that describe existing products operation, features and maintenance. Provides drafting support for new and existing products. Maintains drawing databases and updated existing references. Creates new and updating existing CAD drawings. Participates as a member of the product development team, and interact with interdisciplinary teams in various projects to help develop and document new products, line extensions, or product feature enhancements. Perform component and assembly drawing layouts such as labeling, door style specs, moldings, appliances. Ensures documentation standards are met for all new and existing products prior to market introduction. Supports the engineering change process support function. Tracks and acts on engineering drawing and specification change requests in a timely manner. Provides detailing and drawing expertise to Designers and external vendors. Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in Engineering, Architecture or a relevant degree from a technical college (preferred). Associates degree in technical drafting or drafting certifications is a minimum requirement; prior work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Additional certification from the American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus. 5+ years experience in a drafting background, preferably in a kitchen design background. Proven work experience as a Drafter or similar role. Hands-on experience with AutoCAD software. Familiarity with 3D modeling tools. Proficient math skills. Ability to meet strict deadlines. Ability to work well in a design team and handle multiple designs. Mechanical Skills: Proper use of measurement instruments. Flexible, collaborative, adaptable to change, enjoys helping others succeed. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to multi-task when necessary. Great oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain strict organization and client confidentiality.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, running, bending, lifting, and reaching for extended periods of time. Periodic need to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 20 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a fast-paced, high volume, office environment. Must be able to tolerate frequent interruptions from customers, staff members, and others.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Occasional travel to various customer sites, industry events, and relevant training sessions may be required.
