Position Summary
The Director of Revenue Accounting will lead all aspects of revenue recognition, billing, and collections within a fast-paced, high-volume transportation environment. This role will drive compliance with ASC 606, enhance order-to-cash processes, and partner cross-functionally to support strategic growth and operational efficiency. The successful candidate will bring deep industry expertise, a strong process improvement mindset, and a passion for building and leading high-performing teams.
Essential Functions
* Lead and Inspire: Build, coach, and lead a high-performing revenue accounting team. Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and engagement. * Drive Revenue Accuracy: Ensure timely and accurate recognition of revenue, including application of complex contract terms and variable consideration. * Customer Partnership: Cultivate strong relationships with key customer accounts. Act as a strategic partner in resolving billing, invoicing, and payment challenges while maintaining company objectives. * Contract Oversight: Monitor and validate customer agreements to ensure proper alignment with billing and revenue recognition policies. * Order-to-Cash Optimization: Oversee the full O2C lifecycle. Implement scalable processes and internal controls that improve speed, accuracy, and cash conversion. * Collections Strategy: Establish and monitor collections policies. Track performance, analyze trends, and proactively address credit risks and overdue receivables. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Commercial, Legal, IT, and Operations to structure deals, align systems, and streamline workflows. * Systems and Automation: Lead initiatives to modernize revenue systems and reporting tools, partnering with IT and third-party vendors to drive automation and efficiency. * M&A Integration: Support acquisition due diligence and lead post-close revenue accounting integration efforts. * Reporting & Analytics: Deliver accurate, timely, and actionable reporting on revenue, billing, and collections performance. Identify trends and provide insights to senior leadership.

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Certification as a CPA is considered an advantage. * Proven leadership experience in accounting or finance roles with a strong track record in revenue recognition, billing operations, and cross-functional collaboration * Prior experience in the Transportation or logistics industry is preferred, but not required * Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams * Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels * Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365, Oracle, SAP, NetSuite) and revenue management tools * M&A experience and/or integration of acquired entities a plus * Comfortable navigating ambiguity and leading in a fast-paced, evolving environment
