Program Oversight and Development
Design, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive suite of special programs, including Special Education, 504 services, English Learner supports, Gifted Education, and Federal Programs. Ensure that all programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations (IDEA, Section 504, Title III, ESSA, etc.). Oversee the development and monitoring of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), 504 Plans, EL Language Instruction Educational Programs, and Gifted Education Plans, ensuring services are responsive to diverse student needs and talents.
Leadership and Strategic Management
Provide visionary leadership and direct supervision to program-specific teams. Promote professional growth through targeted training and development initiatives. Guide collaboration across instructional, administrative, and student support departments to ensure alignment and integration of services. Oversee Compliance, Data, and Reporting Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational policies and ensure full compliance with federal and state requirements. Ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation and reports for state and federal audits, program evaluations, and grant compliance. Manage program budgets effectively and allocate resources to maximize student outcomes.
Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement
Foster strong relationships with families, educators, and community partners to support student achievement and well-being. Serve as a key liaison and advocate for students requiring special services within the virtual learning environment. Respond to and resolve parent and community concerns related to special programs with professionalism and empathy. Collaborate with site administrators to deliver professional development on compliance, instructional strategies, and best practices in Special Programs. Collaborate with site administrators to problem solve complex situations and student needs, maintaining compliance.
Skills, abilities and expectations:
Maintain a professional code of conduct, including but not limited to professional language, actions and attire. Maintain professional confidentiality of personal and private matters pertaining to students, parents, and co-workers. Demonstrate the ability to perform effective financial budgeting. Supervise budget expenditures during the school year. Acknowledge and accept direction from executive and school leadership. Maintain a working knowledge of current research and educational issues. Compliance management: Expert understanding of timelines, procedural safeguards, and documentation for all special programs. Audit preparation and reporting: Managing documentation for state/federal monitoring visits and maintaining clean audit trails. Fluency with online learning platforms: Such as LMS (e.g., Canvas), video conferencing (Zoom, Google Meet), and collaboration tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams). Curricular differentiation: For gifted, EL, and special education students in digital content platforms (e.g., Exact Path, Edgenuity, Canvas, etc.). Experience with compliance and student data systems: Such as PowerSchool and other state-specific platforms. Data-driven decision-making: Ability to analyze and disaggregate subgroup data (academic, behavioral, engagement) to inform programming.
Education/Training:
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint card required. Master's degree in Special Education, Educational Leadership, or a related field. Valid Arizona administrative or supervisory certification related to special education or educational leadership, preferred. 3-5 years of experience in special programs administration, including special education, preferred. Extensive knowledge of federal and state education laws and funding regulations. Demonstrated leadership in virtual or blended learning environments strongly preferred. Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
