Salary: $100K-$120k + Bonus

Job Description: The Director of Safety and Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the company's safety and compliance programs. This role ensures that the company adheres to all relevant regulations, standards, and best practices to maintain a safe and compliant work environment. The Director will lead initiatives to promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with legal and industry requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safety Program Management:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and policies to protect employees and company assets.
    • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
    • Develop and deliver safety training programs and materials for employees at all levels.
  2. Compliance Oversight:
    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, EPA, FMCSA and industry-specific standards.
    • Monitor and interpret changes in regulations and industry standards to ensure the company's policies and practices remain up-to-date.
    • Maintain records of compliance activities and safety inspections.
  3. Incident Management:
    • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
    • Develop and manage processes for reporting and documenting safety incidents.
    • Coordinate with insurance providers and regulatory agencies as needed.
    • Experience working with insurance company workers compensation, auto, and general liability
    • Manage claims escalated to lawsuits
  4. Risk Management:
    • Identify and assess potential safety and compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
    • Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies to minimize potential liabilities.
    • Ensure the implementation of safety controls and preventive measures.
  5. Regulatory Reporting and Documentation:
    • Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies and other stakeholders.
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to safety and compliance activities.
    • Ensure timely and accurate completion of required regulatory filings and reports.
  6. Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Develop, update, and implement company policies and procedures related to safety and compliance.
    • Ensure policies are communicated effectively to employees and integrated into daily operations.
    • Review and revise policies as needed to reflect changes in regulations and industry practices.
  7. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Lead and manage the safety and compliance team, providing guidance and support for their professional development.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed.
    • Foster a culture of safety and compliance throughout the organization.
  8. Employee Engagement:
    • Promote employee awareness and involvement in safety and compliance initiatives.
    • Address employee concerns and feedback related to safety and compliance matters.
    • Encourage and recognize safe work practices and behaviors.
  9. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with other departments to integrate safety and compliance considerations into operational processes.
    • Communicate safety and compliance issues and updates effectively to senior management and staff.
    • Represent the company in interactions with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and other external parties.
