Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and in closer partnership with HFW's architecture and engineering firms, as the Director of Business Development you will be at the forefront of our growth strategy, driving all business development activities with a focus on innovation and impact. Your mission is to identify and engage potential clients in the dynamic data center sector, showcasing our cutting-edge engineering and design services.
You'll be instrumental in building lasting relationships and closing deals that exceed sales targets, ensuring our clients' satisfaction and loyalty. Stay ahead of the curve by immersing yourself in industry trends and networking at major events to position our company as a leader in the market. Collaborate closely with the CFO to shape our budgeting strategies and partner with the marketing team to create a compelling brand presence. This role involves up to 50% travel across the United States, offering an exciting opportunity to expand our reach. We seek a visionary leader with a Master's degree or equivalent, 10-12 years of experience in the AEC industry and/or data center projects, and exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, all backed by a proficiency in CRM software. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Generally responsible for driving, overseeing, coordinating, and monitoring all business development activities of the enterprise, including strategic and operational Sales, Marketing, and Customer Relationship activities. Will lead, manage and is accountable as a strong individual contributor to the enterprise in providing market feedback to stakeholders and driving increased revenue.
Identify and Establish Contact with Potential Clients: Conduct market research to identify potential clients in the data center sector. Develop and maintain a pipeline of prospective clients. Sales and Business Development: Present and promote engineering and design services to potential clients. Conduct in-person meetings, presentations, and product demonstrations. Negotiate and close sales contracts to meet or exceed sales targets. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients. Provide exceptional customer service and support to ensure client satisfaction. Follow up on leads and referrals generated through various channels. Industry Knowledge and Trends: Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities. Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to generate leads and build relationships. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, client interactions, and pipeline status. Prepare and submit regular sales reports to management. Other Work with CFO to establish and oversee the business development budget Collaborate with the marketing department to ensure proper branding Provides regular reporting to Managing Principals and Leadership Team and evaluates company goals every quarter Deliver highly effective presentations to position HFW favorably both financially and in the marketplace Travel : Travels between 40% to 50% of their time primarily within the United States, requiring periodic overnight stays.

Strategic Thinking - Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals; understands organization's strengths & weaknesses; analyzes market and competition; identifies external threats and opportunities; adapts approach to changing conditions. Qualifications : Education / Experience : Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; and 10 to 12 years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability in leading and executing complete sales cycle from prospecting through closing, customer retention, and upselling. Track record of closing deals with a history of meeting or exceeding sales goals. Proven experience in outside sales, preferably in the AEC industry. Experience with data center projects is highly desirable. Strong understanding of engineering and design services for data centers. Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. Self-motivated with a results-driven approach. Proficiency in CRM software
Language Ability : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. Math Ability : Ability to apply mathematical operations to tasks such as frequency distribution, test reliability and validity determination, and analysis. Reasoning Ability : Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables. Supervisory Responsibilities : Directly supervises sales and marketing employees-Fulfills supervisory responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
