Job Summary:
The Dining Room Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of dining service operations at LifeSpire of Virginia, ensuring an exceptional, resident-focused dining experience. This role includes supervision of all front-of-house dining staff across Independent Living (IL) and Assisted Living (AL), coordination of service flow, compliance with food safety standards, and fostering a warm, welcoming dining environment. The ideal candidate is a hospitality professional with strong leadership skills, operational expertise, and a passion for serving seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of all dining venues, including setup, service, and cleanup.
- Recruit, hire, train, and schedule front-of-house staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for IL and AL dining staff.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, sanitation, food handling, uniform, and presentation standards.
- Provide leadership that promotes outstanding customer service and positive resident relationships.
- Maintain adequate inventory of dining supplies and communicate procurement needs.
- Coordinate with culinary and wellness teams to accommodate dietary needs and resident preferences.
- Monitor meal service for quality, presentation, temperature, and timing.
- Plan and manage special events, themed meals, and catering services.
- Engage with residents to build rapport, gather feedback, and enhance the dining experience.
- Maintain accurate records related to staffing, scheduling, and resident preferences.
- Communicate effectively with team members and the executive leadership team.
- Mentor and support team members to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
- Assist in meeting departmental goals established by the Director of Culinary Services.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in food service or hospitality required.
- Experience in senior living or a private club environment strongly preferred.
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification preferred.
- Knowledge of food service operations, sanitation standards, dietetics, and food/labor laws.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Resident-focused with a commitment to service excellence.
- Complete tasks independently and on schedule while maintaining operational and service standards.
- Stay informed of applicable state regulations and emerging nutrition trends.

- Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Culinary Services.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting.
- Ability to push and pull carts or equipment as necessary.
