Position Purpose: We prioritize the safety of our associates! The Diesel Technician - Class B is essential for maintaining and repairing our fleet diesel equipment, ensuring safe operations and compliance with all standards.
Primary Responsibilities: The Diesel Technician - Class B performs preventative maintenance on medium to heavy-duty trucks, trailers, reefer units, and convertor dollies with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include:
Conducting preventative maintenance and minor repairs of fleet diesel equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration units), identifying root causes of basic failures, and performing necessary repairs.
Ensuring all equipment has the required licensing and registration to be deemed roadworthy.
Documenting work orders for repairs and maintenance through the online Enterprise Asset Management system.
Installing, replacing, and repairing onboard computers.
Inspecting critical components such as brake systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel bearings to ensure proper functioning, which may involve replacing parts.
Performing routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, battery checks, and lubricating equipment, utilizing hand tools and power tools effectively.
Training and providing guidance to junior Mechanics.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualification:
High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent with 3 - 5 years of proven experience in medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair, including preventative maintenance, tire and wheel work, air brakes, computerized diagnostics, electrical troubleshooting, electronic component repair, and refrigeration experience.
