Description: Clean supplies, equipment, instruments, and instrument trays, following standard precautions for decontamination.
Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments properly: must remove all organic and inorganic materials from dental instruments before sterilization process.
Test sterilization equipment routinely to ensure proper functionality.
Responsible for daily and monthly maintenance of all sterilization equipment, hand pieces, hand piece motors, suction and traps.
Operate water sterilization tools according to established guidelines.
Perform equipment inventory and restock supplies when needed.
Maintain accurate sterilization records.
Maintain organization of all tools.
Verify that supplies, instruments and equipment are in working order. Replaces and/or repairs any that are broken.
Stock all operatories and designated sterilization area(s).
Follow OSHA guidelines and maintain safe and effective working habits; report any unsafe tools or procedures to the Office Administrator.
Assist with patient records.
Take photographs and impressions.
Serve as back up to front desk as needed, answer phones and schedule appointments.
Must always represent the practice in a professional, pleasant, and cooperative manner.
Maintain regular attendance and adhere to assigned work schedules and office policies.
Must be flexible.
Regular attendance of continuing education courses.
Must maintain certification and/or license renewals as required by state.
Must excel in forward thinking in order to anticipate the needs of the patient and our dental team.
May be required to travel between office locations. Must be insurable by the company’s insurance.
Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned by management.
Requirements: Minimum Requirements:
Must be comfortable in a fast paced, quickly changing environment.
Strong organization, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Comfortable interacting with the general public.
As a condition of employment, qualified applicants will be subject to a background check, including criminal history, driving history and character references.
Education and Experience:
Current license and/or successful passage of state boards if applicable.
CPR Certification
Minimum two to three (2-3) years of relevant experience.
Radiation certification preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods of time.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Exposure of hazards to eyes, lungs, and other body parts.
Exposure to chemicals and potentially hazardous materials.
Must wear protective equipment (e.g. goggles, gloves, masks) to protect eyes, handle hot objects, or to avoid inhaling dust.
Excellent speaking and listening skills, requiring the perception of speech.
Must have high finger dexterity to perform duties involving work on the computer and with instruments.
