Job Details
Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Controller will be responsible for designing and leading the organization’s accounting infrastructure—owning the close process, strengthening internal controls, supporting financial forecasting, and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting to inform strategic decisions.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and finance, sharp analytical skills, and thrives in fast-paced, evolving environments.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, payroll, revenue recognition, and monthly close * Develop and implement financial policies and GAAP-compliant internal controls * Prepare and maintain financial statements, account reconciliations, and variance analyses * Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow modeling, and scenario planning * Manage tax compliance and coordinate with external tax advisors * Oversee expense management systems and ensure accurate departmental cost tracking * Support reporting needs for board, investors, and fundraising efforts * Maintain key relationships with banks, auditors, and vendors; manage audit and tax preparation processes
Qualifications:
* 5–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance; background in startups, growth-stage companies, or private equity/venture-backed environments preferred * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required, MBA a plus * Expertise in GAAP, internal controls, and audit procedures * Proven ability to build and scale accounting processes with an emphasis on automation and efficiency * Advanced Excel and financial modeling capabilities * Strong strategic thinking paired with a hands-on, execution-oriented mindset * Proficiency in accounting and finance tools such as NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, Brex, Carta, Looker, Bill.com, and Justworks
